Aika on koittanut ja Steam-peli Devastated on nyt saatavilla massoille! Näin muistin virkistykseksi olin tosiaan vastuussa pelin soundtrackista. Viime postauksessa kävin vähän yksityiskohtaisemmin juttuja läpi.
The time has come and the Steam game Devastated is now available for the masses! As it is known, I was responsible of the original soundtrack for the game. I covered some additional details on my previous post.

Official Steam-page for Devastated was opened recently! I am not the developer but I made soundtrack for the game in 2016. Finally the developer has nearly finished making it. It will be published in spring 2020 and it can be added to wish-list already. Even though I haven’t participated making the game itself the soundtrack is completely original work by me. It is also my first work that has reached into a game published in Steam. The game itself is a post-apocalyptic story driven adventure. One should not get fooled by the simplistic coder graphics. The open world + story is much bigger than it looks at the first glance and I personally find the concept interesting. (I have been beta-testing the game.) I am especially fan of Metroidvania elements too but obviously I like stuff where I make my music, so… judge it for yourself.

Devastated OST:n viimeisen biisin prosessi tuli videoitua. Videolla siis näkyy päämelodian, pädi 1:n, basso 1:n ja rumpujen äänitysprosessi aikalailla kokonaisuudessaan. En ollut aiemmin koskettimieni rumpukonettakaan juuri käyttänyt (enkä varmaan jatkossakaan käytä), mutta oli ihan kivaa kokeilua vaihteeksi. Editorin esikatselussa ei näkynyt tuota viivaa videon keskellä enkä olisi sitä jaksanut varmaan korjailla muutenkaan…
The recording process of the last song from Devastated OST was recorded on video as well. You can see the main melody, pad 1, bass 1 and drums played on that video. I haven’t used the drum machine of my keyboards before (and probably will not use) but it was a nice experiment for a change. The line in the middle of the video wasn’t visible on the editor’s preview and I’m too lazy to fix it anyway…

Soundtrack indiepeli Devastatediin on nyt julkaistu. Itse peli ilmestyy myöhemmin Steamiin. Toistaiseksi jotkin kappaleista ovat melko raakasisältöä peliin ja saatetaan muuttaa albumiystävällisemmiksi myöhemmin.
Soundtrack for an indie game Devastated is now published. The game will be published later on Steam. For now some of the songs are raw mixes for in-game and might be changed into more album friendly later.

Tein alkuperäissoundtrackin indie-elokuvaan “Dear Diary, Rakas Päiväkirja“. Prosessi kesti kaikkiaan noin vuoden. Ääniraidalla on kahdeksan kappaletta + yksi bonuskappale, kun albumin lataa bandcampista. (Vaihtoehtoinen versio tunnarista.) Kappale “Eternity Behind” on myös editoitu versio demoalbumini The Crow -biisistä. Tämä on myös ensimmäinen albumi, jossa olen tehnyt kaiken itse (säveltäminen, miksaus, masterointi… mitä vaan). Kuitenkaan kaikki kappaleet elokuvassa eivät ole tältä albumilta vaan myös public domain kappaleita on käytetty.

I made an original soundtrack for Finnish indie-movie “Dear Diary, Rakas Päiväkirja“. Process took about a year. Soundtrack includes eight songs + a one bonus song when downloaded from bandcamp. (An alternate version of the theme.) The song “Eternity Behind” is also an edited version of The Crow from my demoalbum. This is also the first album where I have done everything by myself (composing, mixing, mastering… you name it). Anyhow, every song on the actual movie isn’t from this soundtrack. Some public domain songs are also used.
